Our Neighbors Need Our Help on Thursday!
At 2:00pm today, we learned of a special Neighborhood Council Planning & Land Use Committee meeting where the Pep Boys project builder will seek approval from the Committee & Neighborhood Council to upzone its project several stories and units.
Lavette Bowles, a resident and neighborhood organizer against this upzoning project, was invited to present, as well. Today, she learned that “….Regrettably, after researching your request to be placed on the agenda at the upcoming PLUC meeting regarding the Pep Boys project, I have verified that it would not be appropriate to do so.”
It appears that a builder is afforded more import than do neighbors. We acknowledge this is a city legal issue; however, we still disagree.
Community voices need to be heard.
We need to support our neighbors. Here’s what we need you to do:
Send an email to PLUC@ncwpdr.com with a message (1) rejecting bonus units due to the high traffic already on those critical intersections; (2) that you don’t agree that $3800/unit rent is considered “affordable”; and (3) they grossly underestimated the trip data and impact on intersections and freeway on/off ramps. Please indicate that you don’t agree with the lack of representation of the community by rescinding of Lavette’s invitation to speak on behalf of her neighbor group.
Forward this email to all of your neighbors and friends
Attend the meeting Thursday, October 12 at 6:30pm at the Community Room in Municipal Building, 7166 Manchester Avenue, LA CA 90045
Fill out a speaker card and express your opinions
While this proposed project might not impact you directly, it will affect the traffic on the very neighborhood streets you travel. And, the next development might be next to your house. You will want your neighbors to come out to support you.
If you haven’t already signed the petition to prevent the project from being upzoned to more stories and units, please do so by emailing LBowles@mednet.ucla.edu today.
Thank you in advance for supporting your neighbors.
